From my trip to Cardiff.
It was great. I did all the touristy stuff. Castles, boat trip, and (da-da-daaaaa) the Doctor Who exhibition! How great is that?
And, I went to see a couple of films. One was The Golden Compass, which was excellent. The other was I Am Legend, which was also excellent but which scared the bejeebus out of me.
Because I know I am a huge wuss when it comes to scary films, I asked the guy on the ticket desk if it was scary.
He said "No, not really."
I said "But...you know...zombies..."
He said "Nah, it's like too ...um...cartoony to be scary."
If I'd seen him as I was leaving, a trembling, red-eyed wreck, I'd have punched him up the bracket.
Fucking liar.

Have you ever seen the previous "I am Legend" films? I haven't seen the most recent one, but I liked Vincent Price and Charlton Heston in the earlier version.
And yes, you should have clocked him.
Hello Mr E, nope, never saw any of the previous ones. I think I will read the book though, because it's a very interesting story.
The reason I stayed in my seat until the end was because I was desperate for a redemptive ending.
So, glad I did.
Ha! I have to admit I visibly jumped 2-3 times during that film and The Girl had pretty much defied quantum physics and attached herself to me after about 30 minutes...

The book is a thing of great beauty - get the edition with other short stories by the author in, as the novella I Am Legend is only about 180 pages.
An all-time favourite of mine, that - hence I have not yet seen the film.

I know what you mean about favourite books being turned into films.
I was in two minds about going to see "Stardust" (the Neil Gaiman one, not the David Essex one) as it is one of my all-time desert island books.
Luckily, the film was lovely. Even though it was very different to the book.
